What doesn't a cartoon astronaut face? The "Vomit Comet."
“Sandra Bullock May Be Hollywood’s Gutsiest A-list Actress” proclaimed the New York Times. Just how much physical courage was required, making “Gravity”?
According to this fascinating profile, Sandra Bullock has been terrified of flying since she survived a plane crash in 2000. However, she agreed to make a movie that required “filming inside a jetliner that simulates weightlessness by climbing sharply and then plunging downward.” NASA astronauts called it “The Vomit Comet.”
You can read the whole catalog of horrors endured by Ms. Bullock in the NY Times profile, using the link at the top of today’s article. Here I will give you just one more example of Bullock’s incredible physical courage with my favorite quote:
“To film one sequence, Ms. Bullock had to stay perfectly still and in character while a camera rushed toward her at 25 miles per hour, stopping only about an inch from her face.”
Although I have not seen the movie yet, I could not wait to rush into her face, into her aura and subconscious mind, curious about what made her tick while filming. Sandra Bullock did what was, in effect, her own stunt work.
Bring on an aura reading, using the best photo I could find of Sandra Bullock acting in this ultra-demanding role.
Prepare for liftoff… into aura reading
The best photo I could locate in the time available shows Sandra Bullock in weightless mode. Check out her feet in this Sandra Bullock aura reading photograph. To me, that dainty position is just one example of the physical intelligence Bullock used in this role. If I picture myself at all, being filmed while in weightlessness, I would surely looked about as graceful as The Tin Man from “The Wizard of Oz”
- Back at the graceful, physically courageous star, here is a link to a dependable copy of the picture showing Sandra Bullock’s aura as well as the rest of her. (Of course, to an aura reader, every photo is an aura photo.
)
- It was a bit of a job for me, twirling around the photograph into a vertical position, since aura reading is tricky enough in profile. Why read her also horizontally? Usually I insist on a front view, upright. But here I settled for what I could find. If you would like to read Sandra Bullock’s aura from this photo, perhaps a nerd friend’s link like this one can help.
- Reading auras in detail from photos is not a difficult skill, when you have learned Stage Three Energetic Literacy. FYI, I used the “Visual Plug-In with Photos” technique from Read People Deeper.
- If you are new to reading the human energy field as a kind of literacy — just about energy – this article with basics about aura reading can help.
- More background about chakra databanks can help you to understand modern-day research into the nadis that emphasizes emotional and spiritual growth in the system of Rosetree Energy Spirituality.
Can auras lie? Not usually. But some actors are a notable exception
Before we get started, exploring Sandra Bullock’s chakra databanks, what if you’re thinking, “It’s only a movie. Why would somebody’s aura change?”
That’s a really good question.
Ever since an interview as an aura reading film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, I have been doing annual aura readings of Academy Award Nominees. Some of the Blog-Buddies have done articles too. (Because aura reading is really something a person can learn to do. Anyone who told you that reading auras is just about clairvoyance or having “The gift” was selling you short.)
Incidentally, last night I did media interview #1,010, a radio interview with Rebecca Jernigan. The topic was not Sandra Bullock but protecting yourself energetically. A timely topic since next week is my annual workshop on “Spiritual Cleansing and Protection.”
Anyway, here are some of my favorite blog posts about reading auras of actors:

And now for gutsy Sandra Bullock, in role, in “Gravity.”
Aura Reading Databank at the Root Chakra for Making Contact with Physical Reality
4 inches. Clenched. Trying really, really hard to seem okay and not in a state of panic.
Aura Reading Databank at the Belly Chakra for Flow of Energy
Life Force energy, a.k.a. prana or chi, flows through us constantly. Even if we are struggling to handle unfamiliar g-forces. What shows in this chakra databank belonging to this actress while dealing with her plight in the zero-gravity simulator?
4 inches of intense concentration. Uh-oh, Sandra Bullock has an energetic sub-routine going on.
What is an energetic sub-routine? It’s a detouring, at a subconscious level. Akin to outsourcing to China or India. You can read more about energetic sub-routines in the how-to book Magnetize Money with Energetic Literacy.
Sometimes my clients for aura healing sessions have energetic sub-routines as a matter of habit, and I use the technique of Vibrational Re-Positioning(YM) to bring healing.
But people not especially in need of energy healing can develop temporary energetic sub-routines in an emergency. One example would be the subconscious functioning of an unflappable-seeming actress, the moment captured in today’s aura reading photo. Far as her body and subconscious mind are concerned, this is a horrifying emergency.
Even if she had to go through such consensual “emergencies” for hours and days at a time, while making the movie, Sandra Bullock was certainly processing her current state as an emergency.
So the energetic sub-routine in question involved scrunching down with her intellect, focusing intellectually, in order to keep herself looking right for the role.
Aura Reading Databank at the Solar Plexus Chakra for Handling Conflict
4 inches. Fighting with fear. Trying to control herself.
Trying to make her body not throw up.
Handling the conflict within her own body and emotions by clamping down, shutting down, and then hiding this effort from her facial expression and body language.
Sadly, this quality of hiding is a very familiar one to the actress. Therefore, this is the most poignant part of this aura reading to me, thus far.
Aura Reading Databank at the Throat Chakra for Verbal Integrity
7 inches. Within a habitual pattern of verbal authenticity and integrity, Sandra Bullock is trying hard to seem authentic and deliver a great performance.
That striving is so humanly powerful.
Seems to me, it is totally ego-based, because one of the big organizing principles of Sandra Bullock’s personality is succeeding socially through force of will.
This pattern now runs on (pardon the aeronautical reference) automatic pilot. Mostly Sandra Bullock is struggling to not visibly panic, throw up, etc.
Aura Reading Databank at the Heart Chakra for Emotional Self-Awareness
Acting isn’t necessarily about feeling emotions. It’s about projecting emotions, plus delivering a physically convincing performance.
Gee, how inclined would you be to notice a lot about your feelings while juggling performance demands in front of cameras, plus the most revolting sort of motion sickness imaginable?
Okay, back to using a technique for energetic literacy, not conjecture!
3 inches. Cool, calm, and collected.
This form of steadiness is not a new workaround, evidently, for Sandra Bullock. It feels more like a practiced survival skill, shutting down access to her own feelings in order to make the grade.
Although many aspects of her current situation are new and horrifying, the need to turn her emotions down, way down? Sadly, this isn’t new to Sandra Bullock at all.
Aura Reading Databank at the Crown Chakra for Handling Terror
1/8 inch. Now here is the really deep freeze, a form of denial and negation of experience so powerful it could stop a rhino in its tracks.
In theory, anyway.
This is a way for Sandra Bullock to keep in control. Through force of will, plus force of habit, she refuses to feel terror.
Aura Reading Databank at the High Heart Chakra for Soul Thrill
Why am I concluding with this chakra databank? Why does it fascinate me most of all?
In advance of this bit of aura reading, I’m pondering:
- Intellectually I can’t decide if Sandra Bullock’s soul will be thrilled at being part of a buzzed-about, career-making movie.
- Or if her human soul will simply be revolted, nearly beyond reason.
- Maybe I will encounter disgust, because Sandra’s soul expression may not be altogether on board with her latest career adventure.
Now, once more, insert technique, experience, and report back — that is the Rose Rosetree job right here, and one that definitely does thrill my soul.
3 inches of “Here we go again.” Sandra Bullock’s soul is quite inured to the risk-taking, gutsy actress’s career choices.
Partly resigned, partly disgusted, the small showing of soul thrill is also immensely human.
Living on earth, invited to make choices that cause deep ambivalence — this is a component of how we evolve. Sandra Bullock’s soul is not quite what I’d call thrilled. But after release of this movie, with all the acclaim that is coming in? Oh, I have a hunch that her soul thrill will be reinstated quite nicely.
